Built in the 1950s as a Shimer College dormitory, Dezendorf Hall housed generations of students and remains a vital piece of academic legacy. Named after Nelson Dezendorf, a General Motors executive and chairman of the college’s board, Dezendorf was instrumental in helping the college raise funds during a financial crisis in the late 1950s.

Today, Dezendorf Hall has been reimagined into 18 modern apartments featuring one- and three-bedroom units, while preserving much of its original historic character. Each apartment includes a private outdoor balcony or walk-out patio, blending historic charm with modern comfort.
